Ceramic Sculpture Master Classes
Rebecca Appleby is a ceramic sculptor, practising ceramics and teaching the subject since 2001.
Our courses are predominantly demonstration-led and tailored, as much as is possible, to the needs of individual students. The courses are suitable for both a beginner or a more confident artist, guidance and help is given throughout. Class sizes are limited to facilitate one to one tuition and the group retains a small, intimate feel. The course day typically starts at 10 am and finishes at 5 pm, during which we sit and share a hearty, home-cooked and fully catered lunch.
Materials are provided and there are no extra charges for materials or firings. The only additional charge will be for follow-up sessions, at a later date if required.
This course is focused on sculptural slab-building, and surface decoration. You will learn how to prepare and manipulate the clay in various ways, suiting your choice of outcome, using moulds and formers. You will also be introduced to various surface decoration techniques using slip, underglazes and oxides.
We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to the Sculpture Lounge.
